An SMME Incubation Hub has been established for the community of Vryburg and existing and emerging companies to develop into sound, compliant and lucrative entities.
The Business Hub, sponsored by Waterloo Solar under the guidance of Africa’s Got Games, aims to assist and support 120 community members with business registrations, compliance checks, as well as research. In addition, the Hub offers programmes covering a variety of business-related topics such as marketing and compliance, among others, to give businesses a competitive edge.
“It is extremely inspiring to witness the SMME’s in Vryburg have access to a Hub that assists them by bringing much needed access to internet and business services,” said Arthur Anderson of Africa’s Got Game.
“I strongly believe that SMMEs are critical as a driving force to the country’s social and economic reconstruction and ultimate stability, “added Anderson.
After conducting research and engaging with local economic development organisations, it became apparent that sustainable initiatives, such as SMMEs, are needed to boost the economy. As a result, local entrepreneurs were invited to be part of an ongoing enterprise development and training programme.
“The entrepreneurs are expected to complete the full programme and to undergo several training and coaching sessions. We welcome all local SMMEs to participate and take advantage of the opportunities that are offered at the Hub,” said Celiwe Mabaso, Community Operations Manager for Waterloo Solar.
The Hub has seen a steady increase in the number and variety of organisations seeking guidance and/or assistance since its establishment. The facilitation also provides SMMEs with an open office space where they can conduct routine business activities such as e-mailing, researching, or hosting meetings in person or virtually.
Small business owner, Sue-Ellen Cloete, whose business provides construction, delivery and catering services, said, “The Hub has helped my business grow significantly by providing me with business training and a wide variety of other services, helping me to become a more successful entrepreneur.”
