Supporting women-owned businesses plays a crucial role in building strong, resilient communities and driving local economic growth. Tshepiso Letsholo, a small business owner Based in Vryburg, North West, and a beneficiary of the Waterloo Solar SMME Incubation Programme, is an example of how passion and the right support can transform a small business into a thriving enterprise.
Her business, ‘More Hair’, focuses on creating organic hair products and offering specialised treatments for afro-textured hair. With the help of the Waterloo Solar SMME Incubation Programme, Tshepiso has taken ‘More Hair’ from a local passion project to a fast-growing brand, now with an online store and plans to reach national retailers.
“Our aim is to inspire people to love and embrace their beautiful hair. We are growing more each day now that we also have an online store, thanks to Waterloo Solar,” said Tshepiso.
Established in 2021, ‘More Hair’ was born from Tshepiso’s deep passion for natural hair care. She began by crafting DIY formulations, eventually developing a line of products that incorporate plants, herbs, and botanicals from her own garden. Each ingredient is carefully selected to ensure quality, with oils and butters sourced from certified organic suppliers. The business has since expanded to include skincare products, and Tshepiso envisions her brand reaching the shelves of leading retail stores across the country.
“The Waterloo Solar SMME Incubation programme has exposed me to the resources and market access needed to grow my business. The training gave us extensive knowledge to build a brand that can compete with a larger market, and potentially international ones in the future,” she said.
